Grandmother Scores Hole-In-One at Rocky Point
and Wins a New Jeep Wrangler!
Barbara Weir of Essex scored an ace on the the par three fourth hole on Friday, June 8. A hole-in-one is a major accomplishment in itself, but Weir’s ace netted her the top prize in the fundraising tournament hosted by the Baltimore County Fire Department she was playing in – a 2012 Jeep Wrangler valued at $26,000!!! Barbara was playing with her husband, Maryland Delegate Mike Weir, and his brothers, Chris and Mark, in the charity tournament.
The hole was playing 161 yards from the women’s tees. Barb hit her trusty four wood and was able to watch the ball bounce twice and roll into the hole. Most amazingly, Barbara was given a "lucky ball" by Rich Kearney, a member of the staff at Rocky Point. He told her to use it on the fourth hole. The lucky ball paid off and Barbara is looking forward to carting her clubs around in her new jeep!
Congrats Barbara and congrats to the Baltimore County Fire Department on a great event.
