Playing Tips Enforcement Criteria Pace-of-Play Facts
In 2007 Baltimore County Golf released a survey seeking comments on the issue of pace-of-play. It was very clear by the response (over 500 received) that pace-of-play is an issue golfers take very seriously. Baltimore County Golf continues its efforts to monitor pace-of-play.
Using information from the surveys and Pace-of-Play Summits that followed, Baltimore County Golf created several new policies at our courses aimed at reducing the time it takes to play an 18-hole round.
One new method Baltimore County Golf is implementing is segmenting expectations for place-of-play by time of day. Golfers will be expected to play faster during the early morning hours. Expectations ease somewhat for golfers teeing off later in the afternoon. In the recent survey the golf system conducted, 65% of the respondents were in favor of this type of policy. (See below for the card that will be placed on each golf cart at the beginning of the round to help monitor the pace of play.)
In addition, Baltimore County Golf has stepped up communications with golfers to let them know the courses will enforce pace-of-play policies and to give golfers the information they need to play “ready golf” and play faster.
